Facebook Political/Issue Advertiser Authorization Page Now Open
Facebook’s new verification procedure for political and issue advertisers is live. The company announced last month it will begin verifying the identity of individuals seeking to run election-related and issue ads.
Advertisers must submit their name, residential mailing address, and the last four digits of their Social Security number and upload a photo of either their U.S. passport or driver’s license. (Photos obscured by glare may be rejected.) Facebook will confirm each address by mailing a letter containing a unique access code.
The company says verification may take up to two weeks (mine came within days), so political advertisers should complete the authorization process as soon as possible. Facebook also mentions an “Authorizations Open Enrollment period” but doesn't disclose when the period ends.
